I guess the latest term for this would be "man cave," but Rich calls his man cave the New York room, since it'll end up being a kind of tribute to his native land. I thought I'd spice things up and put the "after" -- or, I should say, "current but not done" -- picture first.
This is what it looked like for a few weeks after the carpet was removed. I referred to it for a while as the Jungian dream room, since all you'd see when you open the door is a tree, and I'd think, "Didn't I have a dream like this once?" It looked symbolic somehow, but of what, I don't know.
And then what it used to look like, a.k.a "before," right when we moved in.
We thought it would be nice to document the stages of transformation that our house (and we) went through as we took it from its original neglected and trashed state to its pretty restoration in the arts-and-crafts style.
